Be Careful What You Wish For: The Maryland Man Returns
The De-Facto Leader of The Democrat Party Returns for their requested “Due Process”
The Return of “The Maryland Man”
OPINION, Monday June 9th, 2025: By Walter Curt
Democrats spent the last three months lionizing Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia—“the Maryland Man”—as a folk-hero victim of Trump-era cruelty. They paraded his lawyers across MSNBC, waved court filings like holy writ, and declared that due process itself was on trial. Well, the trial is coming all right—complete with ankle irons, federal indictments, and a front-row seat for every reporter who bought the sob-story. Abrego Garcia flew back into Nashville Friday evening in ICE custody, flanked by Marshals who looked like they’d rather be anywhere else but guarding a man Democrats once toasted as a civil-rights icon.
From the moment Immigration and Customs Enforcement mistakenly dumped him into El Salvador’s CECOT super-prison, Democrats sensed an electoral weapon. They filed emergency motions, and Judge Paula Xinis thundered that the administration had “shredded the Constitution.” The Supreme Court even upheld her order to bring him home. Sen. Chris Van Hollen flew down for a pool-side photo-op—complete with margaritas—and declared victory for the rule of law.
Then came Attorney General Pam Bondi’s mic-drop. Standing at Justice Department lecterns Friday, Bondi outlined a brutal indictment that reads like the script for a narco-thriller. “He traded the innocence of minor children for profit,” she said, voice flat as concrete. “Guns, narcotics, children, women—packed into SUVs with the floors ripped out.” Bondi alleged Abrego Garcia made more than one hundred smuggling runs, shuttling MS-13 foot soldiers and cartel product across the heartland. She linked him to the 2021 tractor-trailer massacre in Mexico that left fifty migrants dead and accused him of helping murder a rival gang member’s mother.
Translation: the Democrats’ patron saint is about to star in every Republican campaign ad from now until 2026. Remember the talking points? He’s a harmless day-laborer, they insisted. ICE violated a court order! They demanded hearings, scolded Trump’s DOJ, and swore that any hint of gang affiliation was xenophobic slander. Bondi’s grand jury tells a grimmer tale: alien smuggling under 8 U.S.C. § 1324, firearms trafficking, interstate narcotics distribution, and exploitation of minors.
Politically, this is Chernobyl. Democrats can’t pivot; their fingerprints are everywhere. Van Hollen is already backpedaling, claiming it “was never about one man,”but the image of a U.S. senator lounging pool-side with an alleged MS-13 coyote is forever. House progressives who blasted Trump for “kidnapping” Abrego Garcia now have to explain away grand-jury diagrams of gutted SUVs stuffed with women and children. Even the White House’s new-found silence screams culpability: the same officials who held daily press gaggles about “constitutional crises” have suddenly lost their voice.
Bondi, meanwhile, is delivering exactly what Democrats demanded: procedural perfection. She flew in an arrest warrant certified by three federal judges, convened the grand jury in secret to avoid leaks, and had El Salvador’s President Bukele sign off on the extradition. Expect the trial to be livestreamed. Every idotted, every t crossed—no shortcuts for liberals to whine about later.
And here’s the savage irony: even if Abrego Garcia somehow beats the rap, Bondi will ship him straight back to the CECOT megaprison the minute his sentence—or acquittal—lands. Due process will have been satisfied, and Maryland voters will remember that Democrats spent an entire spring semester championing a man now branded “The MS-13 FedEx.” The GOP couldn’t script a better mid-term commercial.
Expect the trial to stretch deep into primary-season next year. Prosecutors will drag victims to the stand, play body-cam footage of cramped vans, and flash text messages where Abrego Garcia jokes about “fresh cargo.” Cable news will run split-screens: on the left, sobbing mothers; on the right, Democrat lawmakers who called him “innocent until proven guilty” with missionary zeal. Swing-district incumbents will beg leadership to cut them loose; progressive caucus Twitter accounts will quietly delete old threads.
Let’s not pretend Democrats stumbled into this mess blind. They chose this fight. They framed Abrego Garcia as proof that Trump’s immigration crackdown was fascist overreach. They pounded podiums about “due process” while ignoring sealed affidavits hinting at weapons-running. They wagered that process beats public safety. Bondi just turned their legal crusade into a criminal indictment, and every count is a nail in their credibility.
So here we stand: Abrego Garcia shackled in federal court, Bondi grinning like the cat who ate the canary, and Democrats wondering how the floor dropped out so fast. The old adage writes its own kicker—Be careful what you wish for, Democrats; you just got it, good and hard.
Maybe this assholes experience will help get these other assholes OUT of the country and them rents will come down and you wont have 100 people hanging out at Home Depot and maybe wages will go up again. Maybe California wont get into debt so badly (100 Billion/yr. spent on medical and schooling ALONE) Maybe 120,000 deaths due to drugs (mostly synthetic opiates) will lower and your next door neighbors kid wont OD when he takes what he thinks is a vicodone. And maybe crime will slow down a little since there wont be as many addicts.
Maybe life will improve in the US and US tradition of kids earning money for college during summers can resume. And all of these things are at least 10x as bad for states on the border (although theyve been shipped everywhere, especially to "swing states"
And maybe Democrats will start to pay attention to their constituents instead of non citizens, and the money set aside for minorities can go for them and not the illegal invadors that the Democrats thought were going to end all of their electorial problems.
I chalk this up to the phrase "Sometimes You Win"...
