→Comfort Isn’t Everything:
In the Christian tradition, a growing sentiment seems to be taking hold among many believers: the idea that the Church exists primarily for your comfort. This notion suggests that you should find everything about your priest, pastor, or other spiritual leader agreeable. While it's certainly pleasant when these aspects align with your preferences, it's crucial to remember that this is not the Church's primary purpose. The Church isn't merely a place to make you feel good or to echo your own beliefs back to you.
In fact, your Church experience should often challenge you. In this Sunday Special, our first in a series of the newly structured contributor-exclusive columns, we present a different perspective. This viewpoint is rooted in the understanding that we live in a fallen world, and therefore, even your Church won't be perfect. You won't always agree with everything said by the authority figures guiding your faith journey.
We invite you to engage deeply with your faith this Sunday. Re-examine your experience at Church and consider the possibility that comfort is not the primary reason God calls you to worship. Instead, perhaps the call is to grow, to be challenged, and to find unity even in the midst of disagreement.
