POLITICS: By Walter Curt
On what should have been a joyous first day of school, a devastating tragedy struck Clark County, Ohio. A young boy, Aiden Clark, was killed. Another child lost an arm. Twenty-six more were injured when a school bus was rammed off the road by a Honda Odyssey.
I was less than five miles away when it happened. In the aftermath, I confirmed with the State Police that the driver, 35-year-old Hermanio Joseph, presented a Mexican driver’s license. Law enforcement determined it was invalid “due to his immigration status.” Breitbart later confirmed with DHS that Joseph is a Haitian national, entered illegally through Mexico in 2022, was given a Notice to Appear, and was then released into the U.S. under Biden’s disastrous “Catch and Release” policies.
Joseph drove left of center on State Route 41 and slammed head-on into the bus, forcing it down an embankment where it overturned. He has been charged with Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, and ICE has placed a detainer on him. None of it should have happened. He should never have been in Ohio. He should never have been in America.
This is not just a traffic accident. It is a direct consequence of the Biden administration’s open-border negligence. Clark County is not a border town. It is rural Ohio. And yet here, in the heartland, an American child is dead because Washington refuses to do its job. Aiden Clark’s death is not an “unfortunate accident.” It is the price of policies that put politics above the safety of American families.
In the middle of heartbreak, the community has shown remarkable strength. A GoFundMe for the families and survivors has already raised over $90,000. Neighbors, strangers, and patriots alike have stepped forward. Their generosity is proof that the American spirit is stronger than any bureaucrat’s indifference.
But charity cannot replace justice. Compassion cannot substitute for leadership. Until our government secures the border, enforces the law, and ends the reckless experiment of mass illegal entry, more towns like mine will suffer. More families will be broken. More Aiden Clarks will be taken.
This was preventable. And it must never happen again.
